Alumni Dancing Lifetime Roles

Three of V&T Classical Ballet & Dance Academy’s Alumni are currently cast in major roles around the globe and we are so incredibly proud of them!

Skylar Campbell, First Soloist, National Ballet of Canada

Skylar Campbell, First Soloist, National Ballet of Canada

Skylar Campbell is cast as first soloist in The National Ballet of Canada’s Nijinsky. A recent review in Res Musica reads:
“brilliant performance by Skylar Campbell who perfectly interpreted Nijinsky… excels not only with his technical precision and virtuosity, but especially by his ability to give himself completely to the role, embodying Nijinsky”

Chisako Oga, Principal, Cincinnati Ballet

Chisako Oga, Principal Dancer, Cincinnati Ballet

Chisako Oga is cast in the Principal role in Cincinnati Ballet’s Romeo & Juliet
Her technique is impressive, and I learned through my work with her as Guinevere in King Arthur’s Camelot that she has emotional depth to match her ballet technique.

When she arrived in Cincinnati, she was primed and ready for advancement. Her mind is always thinking about what you are going to say, and she is already presenting that thought in a physical expression – smart, fast, inventive and willing!

Victoria Morgan, Artistic Director

Madeline Woo, The Royal Swedish Ballet

Madeline Woo, Royal Swedish Ballet. PC: Pickledthoughts

Madeline Woo is selected for first cast in The Royal Swedish Ballet’s The Grey Area, a neo-classical ballet.

Imagine your way back to Christmas Eve, 1850. Guests are arriving for a party at the Stahlbaum home where Clara and Fritz join their parents and friends to enjoy the Christmas tree and its treasures. One mysterious guest, Herr Drosselmeyer, delights guests young and old with his wonderful gifts and magical surprises. But children will be children and what won’t they quarrel about!

Later that evening, after all the guest have left and Clara is the only one left in the parlor, little mice begin scurrying by and the Nutcracker comes to life! He summons toy soldiers to overcome the evil Mouse Queen and her mischievous mice and a great and wonderful battle ensues.

Victorious, the Nutcracker transforms into a gallant prince and whisks Clara away into the Land of Snow where she meets the Snow Queen and begins a delicious and entertaining journey through the Land of Sweets: Spanish chocolates, Arabian coffee, Chinese tea, Russian candy canes, Mirliton flute candies, Waltz of the Flowers, Dew Drop and Sugar Plum fairies! Oh, what an evening for Clara.

How does it end? Well, you’ll just have to find out for yourself and join us at GSDF/V&T’s 2017 Nutcracker Performance! Set to Tchaikovsky’s timeless score, this full-length production of the magical holiday ballet features more than 50 local dancers, aged 4-18.
