V & T Dance

Curriculum

Ballet

V & T Dance offers a ballet curriculum for all levels of students and interest. Ballet is offered for students range from age 3 to adult. Instructors place students in their respective ballet levels based on a variety of factors. Advancement is contingent upon the technical ability, strength, and attendance of the student.

Pre Ballet/Little Me

Introductory ballet for our youngest dancers – ages 3 to 5. Students are introduced to the technique and language of ballet in a fun and loving environment.

Ballet Levels 1 through Company

Ballet is offered for all levels of commitment and ability. Proper technique in a supportive environment is emphasized at all levels. Hours per week (all dance styles) are recommended as follows for those students with a strong commitment and desire to achieve the next level:

  • Level 1, 2 & 3 – 2 hours per week
  • Level 4 – 4 hours per week
  • Level 5 & Junior Company – 10 hours per week
  • Company – 15 hours per week

Our ballet training is complemented with stretch/conditioning, specific pre-pointe, pointe, variations, Pas de deux (Levels 4 & Company), as well as classes in Character and Contemporary. Private coaching and preparation for competitions such as Spotlight, YAGP and Prix de Lausanne is also available.

Pas de Deux & Variations

Pas de Deux is offered for Company only. Variations is offered for Level 5, Junior Company, and Company.

Contemporary & Contemporary Team

Contemporary dance allows the students to learn additional contemporary style moves to build their dance experience.

Stretch

Students at all levels are encouraged to participate in the stretch/conditioning classes at their level. Stretch encourages students to learn how to warm up, cool down while stretching and strengthening their bodies.

Character

Character dance is a subdivision of classical dance stylized representation of a traditional folk or national dance, mostly from European countries, and uses movements and music, which have been adapted for the theater.
